I visited Kashmir for a vacation,
For refreshment and relaxation.
I just couldn’t believe my eyes
For on earth, it was paradise.
The mountains huge and lush green.
Water in streams so cool and clean.
The gardens covered with a green carpet
The flowers in shades of yellow and scarlet
But away from this treat-for-eyes,
I saw a soldier looking out for spies,
Because it’s his prime responsibility
To maintain the nation’s peace and tranquility.
Leaving his family for the nation’s sake
He’d stand at guard with his life at stake.
It made me wonder that how could
One forget the values of brotherhood!
That a person can kill another with his hands,
Just for a meager piece of land.
